The development of innovative and efficient production processes for sugar molecules calls for broad expertise in biotechnology, process engineering and carbohydrate chemistry. Our unique competences cover these technological areas, as well as the analysis of sugar molecules and the development of large-scale commercial production processes.
In our research and development work, we have established efficient manufacturing processes for pure sugar molecules. The quality of these manufacturing processes is reflected in the final products – the pure sugar – which are used in sensitive applications such as infant nutrition, general nutrition, and the development of pharmaceutical products, cosmetics and therapeutic animal feed. We have already achieved outstanding success in the development of production processes for selected neutral and sialylated human milk oligosaccharides and the rare monosaccharides L-Fucose and Sialic acid (N-acetylneuraminic acid). In addition, we are working on a broad pipeline of functional monosaccharides and oligosaccharides with health-promoting benefits and promising applications. Our product pipeline focuses on the development of food and feed ingredients, as well as ingredients for the use in cosmetics and the production of pharmaceuticals.
As well as developing new and more efficient production processes for scarce functional sugars, Jennewein Biotechnologie collaborates with selected partners in the preclinical development of our products, including the investigation of their health-promoting properties, and the detailed analysis of safety and toxicological data.
